Step 2: 24 to 48 hours later, the four tablets of Misoprostol (200mcg) are administered. The method of administration (buccal, sublingual, or vaginal) should be determined by your healthcare provider.
Follow-up: A clinical assessment or ultrasound is mandatory 7 to 14 days after taking Mifepristone to ensure the process is complete and to check for any complications.
Preparation: Ensure you are in a comfortable place with access to a telephone and a support person, as heavy bleeding and cramping will occur after the second medication.
Pain Management: You may take pain relief (such as Ibuprofen) as advised by our pharmacist to manage cramps.
Observation: Bleeding usually begins within 2–4 hours after taking the Misoprostol and is typically heavier than a normal period.

Ectopic Pregnancy: This medication will not work if the pregnancy is outside the uterus (ectopic). An ultrasound must confirm the pregnancy is in the uterus before use.
Ectopic Risk: If you experience severe, one-sided abdominal pain, seek emergency medical help immediately.
Emergency Signs: Seek immediate medical attention if you experience:
Soaking more than two large maxi-pads per hour for two hours straight.
A fever higher than 38°C that lasts more than 4 hours.
Severe abdominal pain or foul-smelling vaginal discharge.
Contraindications: Do not use if you have an IUD in place (it must be removed first), severe adrenal failure, or certain bleeding disorders.
Indicated For: Women with a confirmed intrauterine pregnancy of less than 63 days gestation who have been counseled and examined by a healthcare provider.
Q: Will it affect my ability to get pregnant in the future?
A: No. There is no evidence that medical termination with these medications affects future fertility. You can actually become pregnant again very soon after the process, so discuss contraception with our pharmacist.
Q: What if I don't bleed after the second medication?
