The Ventolin Inhaler is a fast-acting rescue bronchodilator containing Salbutamol. It is a pressurized metered-dose inhaler (pMDI) that delivers medication directly into the lungs. This medication is primarily indicated for the immediate relief of airway constriction. It is used for:

Inhale & Press: Start to breathe in slowly and deeply. Just after you start breathing in, press the top of the canister to release one puff.
Hold: Continue breathing in steadily, then remove the inhaler and hold your breath for 10 seconds (or as long as comfortable) to let the medicine settle in the lungs.
Wait: If you need a second puff, wait about 30–60 seconds before repeating the steps.
Indicated For: Adults and children of all ages.
Spacers: For infants and small children, the inhaler should be used with a spacer device (and mask) to ensure the medication reaches the lungs effectively.
Precautions: Inform our pharmacist if you have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, or an overactive thyroid.
Q: How fast does it work?
A: You should feel relief within 2 to 5 minutes. The effects typically last for 4 to 6 hours.
Q: Why does my heart race after I use it?
A: A temporarily increased heart rate or a slight "shakiness" in the hands are common side effects. This happens because the medicine can mildly stimulate the heart while it works on the lungs. It usually passes quickly.
Q: How do I know when it’s empty?
A: Many modern Ventolin inhalers have a built-in dose counter. If yours does not, you can check the canister; if it feels very light or you no longer hear a "hiss" when sprayed, it likely needs replacing.
