DREZ TOPICAL SOLUTION — ADVANCED ANTISEPTIC & ANTIMICROBIAL

HIGH-PERFORMANCE COMBINATION ANTISEPTIC FORMULATED WITH POVIDONE-IODINE AND METRONIDAZOLE FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT OF MIXED TOPICAL INFECTIONS AND WOUND CARE. DISCREETLY DELIVERED ACROSS NIGERIA AND WORLDWIDE.

What It Does

Drez Solution utilizes a highly effective, dual-action antimicrobial strategy to eliminate a broad spectrum of pathogens on the skin and within open wounds:

  1. Povidone-Iodine (5.0% w/w — providing 0.5% available Iodine): A classic, fast-acting antiseptic. Upon application, it progressively releases free elemental iodine. This active iodine rapidly penetrates the cell walls of microorganisms, causing the oxidation of essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids. This action leads to the immediate destruction of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and bacterial spores.

  2. Metronidazole (1.0% w/w): A potent nitroimidazole antimicrobial agent. It targets anaerobic bacteria and protozoa that frequently colonize deep, stagnant, or necrotic wound beds. Metronidazole enters the microbial cells where it is chemically reduced, creating reactive intermediate metabolites that disrupt DNA strands, halting nucleic acid synthesis and cell replication.

What It Treats

  • Contaminated & Minor Wounds: Preventing and treating bacterial or mixed infections in minor cuts, skin abrasions, tears, and lacerations.

  • Infected Skin Ulcers: Managing chronic venous ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and pressure sores (bedsores) that are highly prone to foul-smelling anaerobic bacterial growth.

  • Minor Superficial Burns: Shielding compromised skin layers from airborne pathogens while tissue regeneration begins.

  • Surgical Skin Preparation: Disinfecting specific cutaneous borders prior to invasive medical or dermatological procedures to lower the risk of post-surgical site infections.

Who It's For

  • Adults and Children requiring a thorough, multi-action antiseptic solution to clean surface wounds and stop stubborn or foul-smelling bacterial flare-ups.

  • Do not use if you have a known history of severe hypersensitivity to iodine, povidone, metronidazole, or other nitroimidazole derivatives.

  • Thyroid Disorders: Avoid prolonged or widespread application if you have active thyroid conditions (such as hyperthyroidism or goiter), as systemic iodine absorption through broken skin can interfere with thyroid hormone regulation.

  • Pregnancy & Lactation: Not recommended for continuous or large-area use during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the risk of transient iodine absorption affecting the developing baby.

Application Guide

The Wound Cleansing Method

1.Clean the wound bed:Prerequisite.

Gently flush the affected skin or wound area with sterile saline or clean water to clear away any loose debris, crusting, or exudate.

2.Dry the surrounding skin:Preparation.

Gently pat the surrounding healthy skin completely dry using a clean, sterile gauze pad. Leave the wound area moist but free of pooled water.

3.Apply Drez Solution uniformly:Application.

Moisten a sterile cotton swab or gauze pad with Drez Solution and dab it gently and evenly across the affected tissue. Do not rub aggressively.

4.Allow to dry and dress if needed:Protection.

Let the deep brown solution air-dry completely for a minute. A breathable, loose sterile bandage may be applied over the top if the wound requires physical protection from external friction.

💡 Apply the solution 1 to 3 times daily depending on the severity of the wound. Drez Solution forms a protective, colored antimicrobial film over the skin; the fading of this brown color generally indicates that the active iodine has been fully utilized.

Key Ingredients

  • Povidone-Iodine BP (5.0% w/w): A water-soluble iodophor complex designed for a controlled, non-stinging release of active antiseptic iodine.

  • Metronidazole BP (1.0% w/w): A targeted anti-anaerobic agent engineered to eliminate deep-seated, tissue-degrading bacteria.

Possible Side Effects

Drez Solution is exceptionally effective and highly tolerated. Mild and temporary side effects are localized strictly to the site of application. These can include a transient mild stinging or burning sensation immediately after application, localized skin redness (erythema), or mild dryness and skin peeling as the wound heals. Discontinue use and contact our pharmacist if you develop an intense rash, swelling, or signs of an allergic contact dermatitis.

FAQs

Why does Drez Solution contain Metronidazole if Povidone-Iodine is already a strong antiseptic?

While Povidone-Iodine kills a massive spectrum of surface pathogens, deep, wet, or necrotic wounds (like diabetic or pressure ulcers) frequently harbor specialized anaerobic bacteria that thrive in environments lacking oxygen. These specific bacteria generate tissue-degrading toxins and cause distinct, foul odors. Metronidazole targets these hidden anaerobic pathogens directly, making Drez highly effective for complex, hard-to-heal wounds.

Will Drez Solution permanently stain my skin or clothing?

The deep brown color is a natural feature of active iodine. It can easily be washed off skin and hard surfaces with plain water. If it accidentally spills onto clothing or fabrics, the stain can usually be removed by washing the item promptly with soap and water, or by treating it with a dilute sodium thiosulfate solution if the stain persists.

Can I use Drez Solution as an everyday mouthwash or inside my nose?

No. Drez Topical Solution is formulated strictly for external cutaneous (skin) application and open skin wounds. It must never be used as an oral rinse, internal douche, or applied inside the nostrils or eyes.
